Thornton Steward Reservoir - Public Notice
As of today, 11 July 2025, Felling Fly Fishing Club is no longer the lessee of Thornton Steward Reservoir.
We have no information of when and if trout fly fishing will ever be available at this location in the future.
Please contact Yorkshire Water for further information.

Risk Assessments
We were advised through the Angling Trust that from an insurance standpoint we should have Risk Assessments carried out.

Frankland Beat - Flood damage
The recent floods have causes some damage on the river but one any member fishing the Frankland beat on the Wear needs to be aware of is the foot bridge over the beck just downstream of the lower carpark.
As can be seen the flood has caused some bank erosion and one of the clamps holding the bridge has slipped. The bridge still seems secure if you stick to the edge but it will be different when wet.
We are working on a plan to rectify this but in the meantime extreme care is needed should you choose to cross this bridge.
