The Club has 2.5 miles of water on this beat of the River Wear, between Durham City and Frankland Prison. Although less popular than other venues, the Wear, regarded as one of the best sea trout rivers in the country and the second best salmon river in England has provided the club with its largest ever salmon in 2012 at a stunning 31.5lbs. This beat again provides good parking next to the river and is a lovely mix of slow deep pools and some excellent glides to cater for both the fly fisherman and the angler who prefers spinning.
For the 2005-2006 season the Club formed a Coarse Fishing section of Associate Members, as an experiment. During 2019 it was decided that no new course members would be admitted and as they leave the club the Course Fishing Section would be wound down.
