WRT: Pesticide Training Course:

The WRT  are looking to put a few people through a pesticide training course to learn to spay non-native invasive species safely. I understand this is a 3 day course followed by an assessment for the City and Guilds Certificate.

The quid pro quo is that trained people help the WRT in their work to control the spread of  non-native invasive species in the Wear valley. Any member interested in helping the WRT and gaining this qualification please let the secretary know asap. Of course who gets on the course will depend on the number of spaces available.

WRT organised sessions:

The Wear Rivers Trust have organised couple of sessions to help manage the Himalayan Balsam in the Wear Valley. The dates and locations arranged are:

Friday 9th July – Himalayan Balsam management on the River Browney and a nearby tributary, downstream of Witton Gilbert

Tuesday 13th July – Himalayan Balsam management at Bishop Auckland

The tasks will be starting at 10AM and will last roughly until mid-afternoon or for as long as people are available. Anyone interesetd in helping the WRT please let the secretary know asap and I will pass on your details to the WRT. They will then be able  to share more details of the task and where to meet nearer the time? Thank you.
