Some work was carried out on the damaged bridge over the beck on the Frankland Beat of the Wear today.  This work is only a very temporary solution to make it less difficult to cross the beck. The bank damage is extensive making permanently securing the current bridge not possible. A new bridge will need to be constructed and where exactly that bridge might go is currently under consideration.

Members still need to take extra care when crossing this bridge and although the list has been removed to make the bridge more level, it is far from secure at one end.

If you are unsure about crossing the bridge there is a place the beck can be crossed just below the steps down from the car park.
