Till/Tweed Catch Returns

Would those members that have fished the above rivers during November please ensure we have your catch returns by the 7th December. Our secretary has to send seperate returns for both rivers returns to the Tweed Commissioners by the 14th December. Also if you have not sent in your returns for our other rivers then please do so asap as we are already speaking to our riparian owners over our leases and your returns are essential to the club.

Winter Fishing

Now that the migratory season has finished on all our river fishing members still have the opportunity to wet a line on some of our rivers or two of our stillwater fisheries. Members can fish for grayling on the Tees, Wear and the Ford and Etal stretch on the Till or indeed there is the opportunity to coarse fish on the Tees and the Wear. There is also the chance to fish for coarse fish at Rothley main Lake and members are advised that this lake must be booked in advance through our secretary. Rainbow trout fishing is still available throughout the winter months at Thornton Stewrad Reservoir and Rothley Lake and following requests from the membership our winter stocking at Thornton Steward will be of the normal size fish rather than the smaller fish of around the 1lb mark.

The Way Forward

Members will be very aware that salmon fishing on our local rivers is becoming harder to locate for not only our club but angling clubs in general, just look at Fish Pal and the costs per day for a rod, and we can assure our membership that the committee will be working very hard throughout the close season to not only maintain the fishing we already offer but to see if we can add to our very exstensive choice of venue for the membership. We will be celebrating our thirty year anniversary come February 2014 and the venue has already been booked for our AGM and as always look forward to seeing members old and new then. As usual details will be sent to the membership in January 2104.
