Thanks to those members that have offered their assistance in the stockings and planned working party. More would be a help without sounding pessamistic.

We have known, and been opposed, for some time now about efforts to install a hydro turbine at the Hexham weir which was argued would affect the safe migration of salmon and sea trout to their spawning grounds. We have been advised that this will not go ahead now due to escalating costs rising from £1M to around £2.5M. This does not mean it has been cancelled totally as there are efforts being made to try and raise the shortfall of cash. Our efforts are now focused on the proposed two hydro turbines scheduled for the river Wear.

It is now that time of the year when members have started night fishing on the rivers Till and Wear and as always we do advise members to take greater care through the night when wading the rivers.
